Better Sleep with Brown Noise: My Journey to Restful Nights

by | May 3, 2023 | Uncategorized

I love the feeling of a good sleep. For most of my life, I was fortunate enough to have no trouble falling asleep, but everything changed when I entered perimenopause. High anxiety, racing thoughts and night sweats disrupted my sleep, and I found myself struggling with insomnia. I tried various strategies to improve my sleep, including breathwork and meditation, but nothing seemed to work at the level that I was seeking – I wanted to feel well-rested.

That’s when I discovered brown noise as a potential sleep aid. I was open and ready to try new tools, especially ones backed by research. I wasn’t sure how a sound could help me sleep better, but I was willing to give it a try. To my surprise, brown noise actually worked wonders. It helped to enhance the benefits of my breathwork and meditation practices, and I found myself falling asleep faster and more easily than before. But more importantly I was sleeping through the night and waking up feeling rested. I have also experienced a positive effect on my cognitive function (getting things done) and memory retention.

Brown noise is a type of noise that sounds similar to a low-pitched roar or rumble (think airplane cruising nice and steady). Unlike white noise, which has equal intensity across all frequencies, brown noise is louder at lower frequencies and softer at higher frequencies. This unique sound pattern has a calming effect on the brain and can help you relax and fall asleep faster.

I found brown noise particularly effective when used in combination with breathwork and meditation. While these practices helped me to calm my racing thoughts and relax my body, brown noise provided an extra layer of relaxation that helped me to drift off to sleep. I now use brown noise regularly, and it has become an essential part of my sleep routine.

One tool that I have found particularly helpful is the Better Sleep app. This app includes a range of natural sleep aids, including brown noise, which can be customized to your preferences. I love using the app to create a personalized sleep environment that helps me to feel calm and relaxed before bedtime. My pups love it too!

While brown noise isn’t a cure-all for insomnia or other sleep issues, it’s a simple and natural tool that has made a significant difference in my sleep quality. It’s allowed me to relax and drift off to sleep more easily, which has been a game-changer for my overall wellbeing.

If you’re struggling with sleep issues or insomnia, I’d encourage you to try brown noise using the Better Sleep App or other sources like YouTube. My favorite feature of the app is that I’m able to add brown noise to a music playlist, a guided meditation or hypnosis playlist. By incorporating relaxing sounds like brown noise into your bedtime routine, you can create a calming environment that will help you achieve a deep and restful sleep. Brown noise may not be as well-known or widely used as white noise but it has made a significant difference in my sleep quality, and I’m sure it can do the same for you. Try incorporating brown noise into your sleep routine and see if it works for you. Sweet dreams!

Awesome! I have been desperately seeking a way to improve my sleep quality which has suffered considerably this last decade. The lack of quality sleep has impacted my well-being and I often times struggle just to keep focused and energized throughout the day. I find myself using weekends to try to catch up on my sleep but it is not the way I want to spend my weekends. I am eager to try this new approach! Thank you for providing this info!
