Hi! My name is Mia
I am a certified yoga and meditation instructor and Reiki Level II practitioner.
I began practicing yoga over 20 years ago and it was love at first downward dog. Yoga was my saving grace in managing stress and finding balance when I was a Project Management Executive in a fast paced NYC corporate environment. I’ve been teaching for 8 years and as a teacher I’m a perpetual student at heart. I continue to study with yoga teachers that are trained physical therapists. More recently I am a student in the basics of neurology and the nervous system and how these systems impact movement.
My approach to yoga is non traditional where I bring in brain based training to help my students gain strength, better balance, improve flexibility and self awareness so that they feel more grounded, fit, healthy and happy. I love to put my own spin and playfulness on traditional movement by working end range flexibility. My classes draw from a variety of yoga traditions including vinyasa, core strength, gentle flow, and kundalini yoga, as well as developing my own chair yoga practice for seniors and those with disabilities. With an emphasis on linking breath with movement my students experience a meditative practice on their mats and leave class feeling refreshed, renewed and relaxed.
I love helping others feel good in their bodies, no matter their age and level of expertise. I also enjoy cooking, travelling, learning, spending time with family, friends and my yogi pups Sadie and Gracie. See you on the mat.
